Close management

A close measured in days.

The close checklist reads its status from the work: reconciled accounts, posted accruals, approved bills. Eternify Assistant drafts the variance notes, and a named person signs the period off.

What you get

A checklist that knows

A task is done when the work is done. A reconciliation task turns green when the account is certified, not when someone remembers to tick it.

A continuous close

Reconciliation, accruals and cut-off happen through the month, so the close is the last review and not a pile-up.

Signed, then locked

A named person signs off the period, the lock follows, and a late entry needs the period reopened with a name on it.

How it works

From open period to sign-off.

Pick a step to see it. The panel stays beside you while you read.

Each task is tied to what proves it: a certified reconciliation, a posted accrual, an empty approval queue. Open a task and you land on the thing that is blocking it.

  • Status read from the ledger
  • Owner and due date per task
  • Blockers link to the work

Recurring accruals post from schedules, and expected bills are accrued from purchase orders and receipts that have no bill yet. Each one reverses itself when the real bill arrives.

  • Accruals from schedules
  • Expected bills from open receipts
  • Automatic reversal on arrival

The month's billing run and the revenue cut-off sit on the checklist like any other task. They complete when the run is released and recognition has posted to the right period.

Eternify Assistant compares the period with the last and drafts a note for each account that moved past your threshold, citing the entries behind the change. You edit the note and sign it.

Why did 5120 Materials rise in October?

Read 5120 Materials, Sep and Oct 2026 ok

Read bills coded to 5120 in October ok

5120 Materials is 3,420.00 higher than September (31,880.00 against 28,460.00), driven by the Brant Industrial Supply pallet racking order on bill 55812. Draft note ready for Marc Tremblay to review.

When every task is done, a named person signs the close. The period locks for that entity, the sign-off is written to the audit log, and the next period opens.

  • Lock per entity or global
  • Reopening needs a name and a reason

Questions

Questions, answered.

What is a month-end close checklist?

A month-end close checklist is the ordered list of tasks that finish an accounting period: reconcile accounts, post accruals, clear approvals, review variances and lock the period. In Eternify Ledger each task takes its status from the work itself.

What is a continuous close?

A continuous close spreads the work of closing across the month. Accounts are reconciled as lines arrive and accruals are scheduled, so the final review is short and the books are current throughout.

Who writes the variance notes?

Eternify Assistant drafts them from the entries behind each change. A named person edits and signs each note, and the signed note stays with the period.

Can I run Eternify Ledger beside my old books?

Yes. Import from QuickBooks Online, Xero or Sage 50, close a period in both systems and compare every account side by side. You switch when the differences are zero.

Close a period with proof.

Bring last month's trial balance. We build the checklist, draft the variance notes and show the sign-off on a call.
